Little Fish Swim School Norwich is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having been established in 2006 by Toby Ketland, a national-standard 1500m freestyle swimmer with a lifelong background in swimming.

Toby began his career gaining experience across public leisure centres and one of Norwich’s largest swimming clubs, developing a strong understanding of how children and adults learn, build confidence and progress in the water.

After years of delivering swimming lessons, Toby set out to create something different from the traditional multi-level systems used by many swimming providers. The result was the Little Fish progression model: a simpler, more individual approach built around just four core stages from beginner through to confident, capable swimming.

Rather than holding swimmers back until fixed assessment points, Little Fish focuses on steady, individual progression, moving children forward when they are genuinely ready.
